Publication of papers in scientific print media is the direct reflection of the work of people working in that field. Unfortunately, in the speciality of Forensic Medicine, the level of publication is low both in terms of quality and quantity, specially looking at the size of population and abundance of clinical material in the country. There are few authors who have made contributions to international publications. Even at the national scenario the level of papers by researchers from this speciality is not very encouraging in post independent India. To critically examine the issues related to this grim situation in terms of reasons along with the suggestions on remedial measures is the affort of the author in this paper.
