Abstract

The analysis of Phosphoglucomutase (PGM1) subtypes red cells carried out by Isoelectric Focusing on Ultathin layer polyacrylamide gel. The distribution pattern of PGM1 subtypes was investigated in Gujarat population. Total 298 blood samples were analysed. Nine out of ten variants were observed. The calculated frequencies of genes PGM1+1, PGM1−1, PGM2+1 and PGM2−1 were 015872, 0.1275, 0.2130 and 0.0721 respectively. Considering Hardy - Weinberg equilibrium, the observed values of PGM1 phenotypes were round to be in agreement with that of expected values.
