Method based on derivative uv-spectrophotometry has been described for the analysis of chloroxylenol (Dettol) in human blood and viscera. Chloroxylenol was extracted from the exhibits such as viscera, blood and vomit of poisoning case, separated and purified by TLC. Preliminary analysis was done by colour test and thin layer chromatography. Final confirmation was carried out by scanning the derivative spectra of the sample extracts over uv-spectrophotometry. 1st and 2nd derivative spectra of the drug in 0.1 N NaOH were recorded at response mode medium at wavelength speed of 200 nm/min. with slit width of 1 nm.
