Abstract

Traumatic asphyxia is mostly accidental and instances of traumatic asphyxia have been reported while at workplace, whereas accidental smothering is very rarely encountered in adults. Combination of different mechanisms producing mechanical asphyxia is reported in homicidal cases. We report a case where a person got accidentally buried in urea. Mechanisms responsible for mechanical asphyxia in this accidental burial are discussed.
