Abstract

Aluminium phosphide is a commonly used pesticide in northern India as wheat preservative. Acute gastrointestinal manifestations occur due to corrosive effect of phosphine liberated from Aluminium phosphide locally; the chronic gastrointestinal manifestations are rare. We present a 35 years old female who consumed two tablets of Celphos with suicidal intent and subsequently developed oesophageal stricture. The case is being reported as rare presentation.
