A study was conducted on the burn autopsy cases brought to the department of forensic medicine and Toxicology, MGIMS, Sewagram, Gujrat from January 2006 to August 2007. There was total 162 cases brought for the postmortem. Various epidemiological details like age, sex was collected and analysed. It showed that the male Female ratio was 3.1 and majority of the cases were in the age group 21–35 ages (95 cases) and belonged to Hindu religion (153 cases). Most of the deaths were accidental (100 cases), belonged to lower socio-economic status (88 cases) and majority of the cases were married persons (122 cases) living in rural areas (122 cases).
