Curb on the abuse of cannabis is resulting into many seizures. Courts are awarding penalty to culprits dealing with such samples based on the scientific data generated by forensic science laboratories. In certain instances such cases have been decided for the amount of the punishment based on the percentage of “Resin” which has been incorporated in the definition of cannabis in the act. Scientific data has been presented in the paper to understand charas like complex natural product in the right perspective.
