Abstract

Quantitative estimation of blood alcohol has its judicial importance in accidental/fatal cases involving drunken driving and similar type of other cases. In marginal cases of estimation, the uncertainty plays a very significant role. On the basis of alcohol estimation in blood samples, we can come to the conclusion that the person was under the influence of alcohol or otherwise at the time of accident. Thus, measurement of uncertainty is very important in such cases where the quantity of alcohol is marginal. In present study an attempt has been made to quantify the contribution of systematic and random error for arriving at correct results for estimation of alcohol in blood samples.
