Suicide in elderly is a global cause of concern. The study was done with an aim to review elderly suicides in relation to rate and preferred methods of suicide. In this retrospective review of suicide cases autopsied during the study period, sixty seven victims were the age of 60 years or older at the time of death. Most of the suicide victims were males (65.7%), male-female ratio being 1.9: 1. Maximum suicide victims (53.7%) were in young-old group. Among elderly, hanging (40.3%) was the preferred method of suicide followed by poisoning (31.3%). The predominant cause of death was hanging in men and drowning in women.
