Abstract

We report a case where maternal death and intrauterine foetal death took place in a pregnant lady where liver haemorrhage and rupture were detected at medicolegal postmortem examination. Similar reported cases in literature and the pathology involved especially the association with HELLP Syndrome have been discussed in detail. Awareness of the entity can help in early diagnosis and necessary precautions can be taken to avoid allegations of alleged medical negligence.
