Every case of poisoning, whether acute or chronic has medico-legal overtones. Of these, vast majority constitutu either suicidal or accidental while homicidal cases are quite rare. Homicide by poisoning was known to be accomplished by so called ‘ideal homicidal poisons’. A case is reported where homicide was done by aluminium phosphide, which is not an ideal homicidal poison because of its unpleasant garlicky odor and ‘unsuitable pharmacological properties’.
