In the Identification of a person, stature of the individual plays an outstanding role. Stature of a person can he roughly derived from foot measurements. In this paper we study the correlation between foot parameters and stature and simple and multiple regression equations are derived.
Our study comprised of 200 cases, 100 males and 100 females within the 20–30 yrs age group. Measurements were taken by Anthropometric rod and sliding calipers. Statistical evaluation of results was done.
Co-efficient of co-relation between stature and foot length and also in between stature and foot breadth in males, females, combined males and females were calculated. The coefficients were strongly positive with respect to foot length while moderately positive to foot breadth. The simple and multiple regression equations were derived for estimation of stature using either of the variable or both the variables respectively. These equations can be helpful in predicting the stature from the available foot prints and partial remains from the scene of occurrence
This study shows that foot length and foot breadth bear a significant relation to stature andean be of great help in stature estimation
