Abstract

Unilateral basal ganglia haematoma is an extremely rare entity. These are associated with worse prognosis than any other type of posttraumatic intracranial haemorrhages. We present a case report of a 34yr old male who had a motorcycle skid and sustained a head injury. He remained unconscious throughout and died on the 8th day. Autopsy revealed a unilateral right sided basal ganglia haematoma with intraventicular haemorrhages. We summarize or case findings and describe the probable mechanism of unilateral basal ganglia haematoma.
