Lorena Bobbitt shot into news in January 1994. In a daring act she cut the penis of her husband accusing him of diverse forms of matrimonial cruelty. This instant punishment was appreciated by many. In recent times there has been exponential increase in crimes like rape and child abuse in India – the land of solace and meditation. All over the country people are clamouring to enact stringent laws governing rape and sexual offences. Keeping the sentiments of the people in mind a short survey was conducted which yielded amazing and unthinkable result. This is discussed in detail in the paper.
