Abstract

The interplay of injury with disease throws up interesting possibilities. The picture gets complicated where desperation to die leads an individual to adopt several self-destructive means simultaneously, in the background of pre-existing disease. The job of accurately identifying the cause of death becomes even more challenging in cases where the Police Inquest, which is based on eyewitness statements, indicates a sudden natural death. The present case report illustrates the need for Forensic Experts to retain dispassionate objectivity to home in on the exact cause of death in such confusing cases.
