Abstract

Trauma is the most common cause of mortality among the age group 1–45 years, causing loss of productive days more than other notorious diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and malignancies. This study was conducted to describe the frequency and pattern of blunt abdominal Trauma is the most common cause of mortality among the age group 1–45 years, causing loss of productive days more than other notorious diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and malignancies. This study was conducted to describe the frequency and pattern of intra-abdominal injuries in patients with blunt abdominal trauma.

The present study was undertaken on 693 victims who died due to blunt abdominal trauma which were autopsied at B. J. Medical College mortuary, Ahmedabad during the year 2016–2017. This study shows that number of deaths due to blunt abdominal injuries are more in males of age group 20–29 years than others. Major cause for this is RTA. Majority of victims are living in urban areas. Maximum number of deaths occurred within 6 hours of injuries.
