Abstract

There are so many studies done by various authors for the estimation of the stature estimation from bones. Most of the studies are for the population of western countries. So, we have done this study to correlate stature and the length of hand among the population of Gujarat. The present prospective study was done at Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, B. J. Medical College, Ahmedabad. For present study, total 200 (115 males and 85 females) asymptomatic, apparently healthy, adolescent and adult medical students belonging to various regions of Gujarat were selected. In our study, the correlation coefficient was found be statistically significant indicating a strong relationship between length of handand stature for Males and females respectively. Regression equations derived in this paper can be used to accurately estimate the stature from length of handamong population of Gujarat. Data collected are analyzed by using MS Excel.
