This study was carried out at Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College & Hospital, Kachandur, Durg during the period of August 2013 to July 2017. This is a rural area with high rate of poverty & unemployment. During this study, male to female ratio of poisoning cases was 1.35: 1. Maximum cases were seen in the age group of 21–30 years in both sexes. Poisoning cases were commonly seen among the married people in both sexes belonging to rural area and low socio-economic group. Insecticide poisoning was most common of all. Incidence of suicidal poisoning was more than the accidental poisoning. Maximum number of cases were due to financial problems with agriculture as their most common occupation. Maximum patients had consumed poison in evening with average time interval between poison consumption & hospital admission was 1–4 hrs. Case fatality rate was higher in males.
