Abstract

To reach a conviction in a criminal trial, the standard of proof is "beyond reasonable doubt". The prosecution will prove that through direct and/or circumstantial evidence. In our Case Report we are arguing the weightage ofradiographic imaging as circumstantial evidence for building a case with proof "beyond reasonable doubt". We report a 34-year-old male body packer who presented with acute abdomen. Abdominal radiography shows two ovoid shaped-capsule like foreign bodies in right scrotal region. He underwent exploratory laparotomy and right hernioplasty as well as post operative abdominal x-ray with failure to elucidate the presence of the foreign bodies. As demonstrated in this case, plain radiography is not a STRONG circumstantial evidence and can give false results which necessitates further radiological work up.
