Antioxidattve and hepatoprotecttve effect of kombucha sweetener on Acetamevophen-Induced liver injury

Abstract

Kombucha mushroom tea is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar and yeast that known to possess various medicinal properties. This study was designed to evaluate the antioxidant and hepatoprotective effect of kombucha sweetener and its secondary metabolite on Sprague Dawley rats. AST and ALT level in secondary metabolites extracted from Kombucha sweeterner-and Kombucha sweetener-treated rats were significant lower compared to APAP treated group. The level of SOD, GPX and CAT were lowered compared to APAP treated group. Based on the findings, it can concluded that kombucha sweetener and its secondary metabolite has hepatoprotective activity against DILI.
