Inheritance of fingerprint pattern and sequence frequencies showed ethnic variation. This study was aimed to investigate the inheritance of fingerprint patterns among Malaysia Indian families. The study included 53 Malaysian Indian family members. A family consists of a father, a mother and two children. Fingerprints were collected and analysed statistically. The inheritance of fingerprint pattern showing highest frequency is from mother to son (82.7%), followed by father to daughter (79.6%), father to son (71.2%) and the least mother to daughter (70.4%). The present study provided valuable information on inheritance of fingerprint pattern among Malaysia Indian family members.
