The charring rate of wood vary from species to species. The present study was aimed to investigate the charring rate of selected Malaysian timbers. Five Malaysian timber species were chosen for this study. Each sample was burned with and without turpentine in vertical furnace in accordance to MS 1073. The data were analysed statistically and interpreted the results. The result of the study showed variation in charring rate among the species. The result findings were recorded in table and figures. The present study provided encouraging result on charring rate on selected Malaysian timbers in forensic perspective.
