Enumeration of potential pathogenic bacteria collected from university elevators

Abstract

Community settings can become mechanical transmitter of pathogenic bacteria. Elevator can be reservoir of pathogenic bacteria. Current study aims to understand the possibilities of bacteria cross-contamination that harbors elevators buttons at a university. Qualitative examination of microbes isolated discovered a great quantity of Bacilli spp of gram negative as predominant biotic followed by Gram Positive Bacilli, Gram Negative Cocci and Gram Positive Cocci. The presence of potential pathogenic bacteria that contaminated the elevators indicates the elevator could potentially become reservoir for transmission of pathogenic bacteria strains in the campus.
