Usage of contact lens in Malaysia has increased recently for both corrective as well as cosmetic purpose. But poor care-maintenance has jeopardized the benefits ofCL. This study tries to determine association between compliance on lens-case care and microbial contamination among CL users.46 MSU students and CL user answered a questionnaire and then based on asymptomatic answers we collected their contact lens cases and send them for bacterial contamination testing. Most student (56.6%) had moderate compliance with care regimen. 37% of the cases was contaminated and 63% lens cases were non-contaminated. All the contaminants were gram negative bacteria. Further test with Microgen GN ID, showed that the most common microorganisms detected were Serretia sp. (65%) and Enterobacter sp. (35%). It also showed that cases which were used for more than 3 months were more contaminated. Hence this study showed that since MSU students have moderate compliance with case care regimen so it's better to replace lens cases within 3 months to avoid microbial contamination.
