Abstract

Analysis of precursor chemicals has been a major challenge for Forensic Analyst. Norephedrineis an important precursor used for the manufacture of amphetamines 3, 7. A study has been conducted for the analysis of norephedrine in seized samples with the help of hyphenated technique High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. The method yielded successfully reproducible results. This involved easy sample preparation, quick and simple procedure which yielded reliable and reproducible results. The method is found to be useful to identify even isomers of precursor with great ease.
