Paclitaxel of fungal origin recently in limelight and scientist are trying to find out a novel fungal strains which produce significant amount of paclitaxel at bioprocess level. A large number of factors affect the paclitaxel production at industrial level. One group of scientists are exploring a large number of fungal endophytes inside the medicinal plants especially Taxus species which are potentialistic paclitaxel compound producers. At the same time another group of scientists is trying to explore novel fungal strains from soil with the potential of paclitaxel compound production. Present review article discusses and highlights the current status and bottle neck of paclitaxel compound production at bioprocess level.
