Vitamin E is an antioxidants play effective role in the protection the body tissue against harmful stress of the reactive oxygen species the main effect of Vitamin E is suppress damaging the cell membrane which caused by free radical as well increase formation of the antioxidant enzymes in the tissues. This our study aimed to investigate the effect of Vitamin E on wound healing by measuring the histological changes and antioxidant enzymes level in formaldehyde injuries on skin of albino mice. Total of 24 albino mice, all the 24 mice were divided into 3 groups (Control Group, Injury-induced Group and Treatment Group). Formaldehyde have been used to induce injury through direct contact to the skin. Vitamin E was applied locally once daily for a 14 days. Histological studies have been used to measure the wound healing rate.
The result showed vit E application increase the rate of wound healing and regeneration both epidermal and dermal layers (P < 0.05). The activity of the Antioxidant enzymes (GPX, CAT) showed significant improve in the treatment mice compared to non-treatment.
