Abstract

Here we report a murder/paternity case with an incompatibility at locus D3S1358. Examination of 24 autosomal loci revealed no mismatches with a high paternity index. Since the questioned child was a male & the Y-chromosome is transmitted exclusively to the male lineage we studied a battery of 25 Y-STR's in the child & father. Since the battery of autosomal &Y chromosomal STR's employed confirmed the paternity & maternity, the observed incompatibility or mismatch could be due to a mutational event.
