Development of analytical method for detection of monocrotophos insecticide from biological matrix using lc-ms/ms

Abstract

Background: Monocrotophos is one of the broadly used insecticide also termed as Azodrin which belongs to organophosphorus group. Such insecticide used to kill mice and insects in agriculture and in aquaculture, which effecting the food cycle consumed by humans throughout the world. Although past studies showed the effect on cholesterol content of kidney of reduction in protein due to proteolysis. Method: Blank and spiked sample of concentration 20 ppb of standard monocrotophos was taken and advanced for extraction by dispersive solid phase extraction method which further analyzed in LC-MS/MS spectrometer with triple quadruple system. Result: The concentration of monocrotophos sample obtained is 20.087 ppb which means a good recovery with retention peak at 5.018. which shows dispersive solid phase extraction gives recovery of 100.08%. Conclusion: The result from dispersive solid phase extraction method demonstrate the applicability of the method in viscera sample analysis for insecticides poisoning in forensic laboratories due to its precision and high recovery rate. Where till liquid-liquid extraction with GC were used now can be overtake by dispersive solid phase extraction with acceptable performance parameters like LOD, LOQ, recovery, precision and selectivity.
