Research and testing of covid-19 in coordinated effortsfrom a diagnostics laboratory perspective

The new emergent disease, now a trend in 2020, Covid-19, has become a major threat to Homo sapiens. Not only does it impact the health of humans but it includes all activities especially the direction of research and innovation in medical and health sciences. Previously, the world has experienced a number of pandemics such as the Spanish flu, Asian flu and Hong Kong Flu. Lessons from previous pandemics have illustrated major importance of health innovationsin curbing an outbreak. This paper reviews practices adopted by a local diagnostics and research laboratory and its affiliated institution in its cohort style research activities coupled with diagnostics and testing with coordinated information flow incontrolling Covid-19 spread. This paper also includes previous history of world pandemics in perspective to the current procedures in place locally to curb the effects of SARS-COV-2 effects to public health and in isolating the effects of Covid-19 symptoms and infectivity among the local community. Literature search of case studies provides further insights to implementation of previous strategiescrucially needed in advancement of medical and public healthcareincountering thespread of and intensity of this Covid-19 pandemic.
