In the present work DNA profiling of 310 person of Indian population was screened for rare alleles which were not included within the allelic ladder provided by the manufacturer of AmpFlSTR Identifiler Plus (Applied Biosystem) and Promega Power Plex 21 STR system (Promega Corporation)PCR amplification kits. A total of 2unusual rare alleles were detectedin Indian population by using Amp FlSTR Identifiler Plus (Applied Biosystem) and Promega Power Plex 21 STR system (Promega Corporation) PCR amplification kits. This study identified one variant allele at FGA locus (allele 22.2) and one at D1S1656 locus (allele 8). Allele 22.2 found at FGA fell within the allelic range while allele 8 found at D1S1656 fell prior to the allelic range.
