People with intellectual disabilities are more likely to ignore disease prevention measures, which can lead to physical issues such as respiratory infections, skin disorders, or TB or HIV exposure. People with intellectual disabilities die far younger than the normal population. The current study comprised 118 fatalities of intellectually challenged persons residing in government/government-supported shelter care homes for intellectually handicapped people reported to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital, New Delhi, India, between January 2016 and December 2020. In the current study, the most of instances in men were found to be between the ages of 11 and 20, while the majority of cases in females were between the ages of 21 and 30. In all, 72.88% of cases are between the ages of 11 and 30. Lung disease is found in 70.33% of patients, with multi-organ failure owing to septicemia occurring in 15.25% of cases. This study found a strong relationship between chronological age and death rate among persons with ID who were vulnerable to health-care intervention, suggesting that this patient population continues to confront health issues and inequities in health-care interactions in today's welfare society.
