Renal injury is the vasculotoxic complication in case of snakebite cases.In Tropical countries,it is the commonest cause of mortality and morbidity in snakebite cases.This study includes observation of all the clinical parameters related to vascular injuries including acute kidney injury(AKI) and other associated complications.
Setting & Design: This is a Prospective observational study conducted in tertiary care hospital.
Material & Method: Consecutive cases admitted for snake bite envenomation were studied for presence of neurological and vasculotoxic symptoms. These were studied for various parameters like hospital stay, acute kidney injury, mortality rate etc. Anova followed by Post hoc analysis was done for statistical analysis.
Results: 18.52% cases out of 108 studied had vasculotoxicity. Prevalence of AKI in these patients was 92.86%. Overall mortality rate was about 5.56%. while it was 7.14% in vasculotoxic cases. The Mortality rate was highest i.e. 33.33% among those who had both vasculotoxic as well as neurotoxic symptoms.
