Pharmacological toxicology and dangers of self medication

The discipline of toxicology known as pharmacological toxicology investigates the negative consequences of medicinal drugs on the human body. The study of adverse effects of therapeutic agents on the human body includes adverse drug reactions, overdose effects, excessive use, prolonged use, inappropriate use, druginteractions, agebased recommendations, and so on. Self-medication and indiscriminate use arebecomingincreasingly popular in practically every country.To avoid medicine related adverse effects, it is vital to raise awareness about how to avoid such harmful activities. Without medical guidance, injudicious and irrational use of medicinescan result inan increased risk of adverse reactions, delays in receivingneeded medical advice, dangerous drug interactions, improper administration, incorrect dosage, incorrect therapy choice, masking of a severe disease, and a risk of death. Here we are presenting two case reports of injudicious use of allopathic medicines. These reports highlightthe pivotal role of healthcare workersin avoiding the prolonged and injudicious use of medicines.
