Abstract

Studying of insects in forensic toxicological aspects gained popularity in latest years. Entomological matrices are considered as alternative matrices for toxicological studies in decayed or skeletonized bodies. Collection, extraction and further analysis have been illustrated by experimental studies. In this study we closely discussed the effective use of forensic entomotoxicology to evaluate the approximate time of death, corpse transfer or presence of any illegal substances on the body, evidentiary value, sample collection, extraction, drugs of abuse commonly used in study and classification, instrumental techniques for detection are discussed. Challenges faced in entomology and entomotoxicology are briefly reviewed in the current study.
