Abstract

Saliva as a biological fluid is gaining popularity amongst researchers, especially in the field of forensic science. It is a complex biological fluid medium of choice for all forensic and criminal investigations because of its ease of collection and safety in handling. The oral cavity is a complex and dynamic environment composed of microbial diversity that is specific to the individuals. It is recognized that various interactions take place between the salivary macromolecules and oral micro flora. The present study aims at understanding the rate of degradation of microbial growth in oral micro flora stored at specific temperature for a prolonged duration.
