Footprints are created when the plantar surface comes in contact with any surface. Footprints are also known to have ridges and therefore can serve as an important source of evidence at the scene of crime in identifying the number of perpetrators or individuals the at crime scene. The study aims at identifying these class characteristics and their significance in personal identification. For this purpose, footprint samples were collected from a 54 males and females of the age group 20–25. The samples were analyzed for the patterns found in the ball region of the foot, the presence of flat and arched foot and foot-type. It was found to be that in both males and females in both the foot loops patterns were more common followed by whorl, arch and accidental patterns. It was also noted that in both males and females the fibularis foot type was more commonly occurring the left leg and the tibularis in the right leg. The frequency of occurrence of bilateral arch foot was more common in comparison to bilateral flat foot.
