The inks comprise of a mixture of dyes and pigments dissolved and dispersed in a solvent with characteristics that allow continuous and homogeneous flow from the pen to the paper or other material and adequate penetration into the paper. The average ink is composed of dye or pigment particles - carbon black for black pens, eosin for red, or a suspected cocktail of Prussian blue, crystal violet and phthalocyanine blue for the classic blue pen. Ink examination is an important forensic task conducted by Forensic Document Examiner. Ink analysis helps to determine if more than one ink is used in document or suspected fraudulent act. It is interesting to know that the compositions of different brands of ink are confidential, but it is possible to examine the handwriting written by different brands of ink. In the present study, VSC 8000 have been used as it is one of the non-destructive modes of examination and viability of documents can be maintained. Most of the brands can be discriminated by the filters of VSC 8000. It has been demonstrated as powerful tool for comparison and differentiation of visible ink. The various optical properties like absorbance, fluorescence, and reflectance of VSC -8000 has been used for analyzing the ink. The utilized approaches in present study were also successful in detecting various means of obliterations simulated additions or alterations on paper documents. Different peaks of absorption and emission spectra is observed in our study.
