Current study is focused on the qualitative detection of toxic heavy metal ions in seafood, specifically in Indian Mackerel, with the help of fluorescence spectrometry. Zn, Cd, Hg, Pb, Sb, Eu, Fe, Ag & Au was determined in the fish sample. Although trace amounts of gold and silver is not toxic but significant toxic effects from Cd, Hg, Pb & Sb has been reported by several authors in previous studies. While consumption of fish and seafood on an average is not significant but health risk for high consumers cannot be ruled out.
