Insecticides are used as a weapon for suicidal or homicidal purposes in developing countries. There is the easy availability of these insecticides are used in criminal poisoning cases. Insecticides are extensively used in agriculture and household remedies for the control of insects. Due to their easy availability in adverting knowledge and quick action, these insecticides are being largely used for suicidal and homicidal purposes. In such situations, Forensic toxicologists play a vital role in the identification and detection of insecticides in medico-legal autopsy cases. Chlorpyrifos, an organophosphorus insecticide, is mostly used in the killing of a variety of insects, and pest worms in agricultural areas. It is easily available in the market and highly toxic in nature. Suicidal cases and accidental cases due to the poisoning of Chlorpyrifos have been reported in large numbers due to the ease to access this pesticide. So, in this paper,we have extracted and identified Chlorpyrifos insecticides from blood, viscera, and gastric lavage samples for getting good results which will be confirmed by TLC by using the different solvent systems. The detection of Chlorpyrifos was seen on developed plates by applying 4,4dinitrobenzyl pyridine reagent followed by Tetraethylpentamine reagent. This technique is fast, reliable, simple, and less expensive than other techniques.
