A novel fingerprint powder composition based on methylene blue has been prepared. The other ingredients of composition are silica gel G and calcium sulfate. The composition develops sharp and clear fingerprints on a wide range of dry, smooth, non-porous surfaces such as A4 white paper, aluminum foil, compact disc etc. This composition is useful in detecting and developing weak and fragmented chance prints from scenes of crime. The developed composition is non-hazardous, nontoxic, and cost-effective in nature.
