Seventy samples of saliva (fifty from secretor and twenty from non secretor individuals) were collected. From each sample, saliva stains were prepared, one on a piece of washed cotton cloth and another on cotton swab. All the stains were dried up in room temperature and stored in the same temperature. Then the stains were examined at different periods for the detection of ABH substances by absorption inhibition and absorption elution techniques.
The absorption inhibition technique gave a higher percentage of correct results as compared to absorption elution technique. A higher percentage of correct results were also observed in the samples collected on washed cotton cloth than that on cotton swab.
