Abstract

The stability of diazepam in adulterant country liquor (Taddy) at room temperature (30±2°e) over a period of approximately 3 months has been studied by ion mobility spectrometry. The results indicate that the degradation of diazepam starts on the day it was adulterated with country liquor (Toddy). Affer adulterating it with county liquor, the degradation is almost complete in 3 months. The technique used for the study is simple and reliable. It enables understanding of the stability and degradation pattern of diazepam and suggests a correct procedure for forensic use of this, which is commonly encountered adulterant country liquor cases for its analysis.
