Ground water samples collected from 47 villages of Matanhail block of District Jhajjar, Haryana were analysed for the fluoride and other chemical characteristics. A total number of 182 samples were collected from handpump, tubewell, well and Govt. supply water of diferent villages. It is observed that 30.77% samples of ground water contain fluoride upto 1.0 mg per liter; 23.76% samples showed fluoride in range of 1.0 to 1.5 mg per liter 41,76% samples showed fluoride in range of 1.5 to 3.0 mg per liter and 3.85% sample showed fluoride above 3.0 mg per liter. Consumption of excessive fluoride in drinking water causes dental fluorosis and physiological deformities. An attempt was also made to survey the school children for dental fluorosis. Both prevalence and severity of dental fluorosis were found to increased with increasing of fluoride concentration. A systematic calculation of the correlation coefficients has also been carried out between different physico-chemical parameters.
