Mordhan flour outbreaks morbidity-pani religious community

At the occasion of Durga Pooja, the sudden outbreak of morbidity was noticed among people of a specified area, with the symptoms of vomiting, headache, stomach ach and feeling of not well-being, which resulted to panic among the people.

These people were keeping fast, and took Puri made up of Mordhan, Flour which is permitted food during fast, soon after eating those Purie people fell, ill and rushed to the hospital in mass. The Mordhan, flour was sent to this Institute for chemical examination, which was found to contain parathion, an organ phosphorous insecticide. The facts are discussed in the paper.
