Abstract

75 cases of violent asphyxial deaths, 60 cases of hanging and 15 cases of ligalure strangulation, brought for medico-legal autopsy in the department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology AIIMS, New Delhi during 1999 and 2000 were studied for histo-pathological changes in the neck strucures. Tissue samples i.e. skin and subcutaneous tissue, muscle, thyroid and lymph node were collected from these cases and their pathological findings noted and discussed.
