Abstract

Tattooing is a form of identification procedure deliberately acquired by persons for various reasons. The practice of tattooing is prevalent among some sections of the people all over the world. Various types ofpigments are used and the permanency depends on the type of dye used andlhe depth ofskin involved. Forensically, the main interest of tatfaos lies in identification of both living and dead Tattooing, however also provides fascinating study depiciing personal likes and dislikes, religious inclinafions, occupation, sexual preferences, race, nationality language, mental makeup, social status etc.
