Unnatural cause of death contains unique dimensions that make it different than natural dying. A retrospective analysis of total 2876 deaths which were autopsied at Department of Forensic Pathology of University Malaya, during the period of 10 years (1995–2001) was done. The bodies undertaken by the forensic department here are mainly from the area of Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur. The data was then collected from the log book at the department. Based on our study, road accident was found to be the leading cause of death, (51.6%). The study showed the highest death in the age group of 20–29 years (35.8%). Male to female ratio was 1:0.2 in general. Malay ethnic group constitutes the highest percentage of unnatural deaths (26.6%). The study aims to draw attention and expose our society to the unnatural causes of deaths that occur in our country due to our lack of awareness. Thus, the society will be cautious and do not take matters too lightly that it can cause tragic loss of lives. Besides that, preventive measures can be proposed to further decrease the number of unnatural deaths reported.
