A study to evaluate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme on knowledge regarding antenatal exercise among pregnant mothers in selected maternity hospitals, Kuppam

Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate the video assisted teaching programme made any significant difference in improving the level of knowledge regarding antenatal exercise among pregnant mothers at K.G.F. A pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test method was used. The data were collected from 60 antenatal mothers attended antenatal OPD using convenient sampling method. Data were collected by structured interview and structured questionnaire. The major finding of the study show that, in the pre-test knowledge score only 60% of mother had moderate knowledge and 40% had inadequate knowledge regarding antenatal exercise. No one had adequate knowledge on antenatal exercise. In the post-test assessment after intervention, 60% of the mothers had adequate knowledge, 36.7% showed moderate knowledge and only 3.3% showed inadequate knowledge regarding antenatal exercise. There was a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test knowledge score. The mean value off knowledge in pre-test was 9.1 and the post-test mean value was 16.9 which showed the effectiveness of demonstration of antenatal exercise among pregnant mothers. The study concluded that video-assisted teaching programme is an effective method to improve knowledge regarding antenatal exercise among pregnant mothers.
