Enhancing postoperative care for children recovering from cardiac surgery is critical for promoting better outcomes and supporting their transition back to normal life. Cardiac surgery is a life-altering event for families, requiring comprehensive management strategies to address recovery challenges. Effective postoperative care includes wound management, infection prevention, nutritional optimization, pain control, and psychological support for the child and caregivers. The unique nature of congenital heart disease (CHD) necessitates tailored interventions to address individual needs. This review outlines practical and evidence-based guidelines for caregivers and healthcare providers to ensure a seamless recovery and improve the long-term prognosis of pediatric cardiac surgery patients.
